The goalPhysical Chemistry course aims to provide the basis concepts for understanding states of matter (gases and liquids); to provide theoretical background for fundamental concepts underlying physical process, equilibrium and the direction of spontaneous change in material systems, physical transformations of pure substances and mixtures; to provide basic framework for understanding chemical and electrochemical changes and formal chemical kinetics; to introduce students to experimental methods in physical chemistry; interpretation of the models and mathematical expressions used for determination of physicochemical properties in laboratory.
The outcomeStudent would be able to adopt basic knowledge on states of mater (gases and liquids) relaying on explanation of molecular interactions influencing their bulk properties. They would be able to obtain a unified view of criteria of spontaneous change (physical, chemical and electrochemical) and equilibrium based on the concept of chemical potentials of substances and adopt basic knowledge on formal kinetics of homogenous chemical reactions. They would be capable to accurately collect and interpret experimental data and solve basic problems in Physical Chemistry.
