The Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy (FTM) has successfully started implementation of the international project “Twinning to excel materials engineering for medical devices - ExcellMater” funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme by the Kickoff Meeting held online on November 12. Partners in the project are leading international institutions: Aalto University, Finland, Università del Piemonte Orientale, Italy, and AO Research Institute Davos, Switzerland. The project is coordinated by Prof. Bojana Obradović and it gathers several research groups working on biomaterials at FTM. The goal of the project is twinning the expertise from the international partners to FTM in the area of biomaterials engineering for medical devices with the special focus on translational research, commercialization and clinical applications. Various activities including short-term staff visits, exchange of students and young researchers, seminars, workshops and summer schools will be held to advance the research and innovation capacity of FTM. In addition, at the end of the three-year project period an international scientific conference will be organized with the aim to increase the FTM visibility in Serbia and beyond. The project budget is €800000 and the main project data can be found at https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/952033
