    The goalLearning engineering aspects of textile dyeing and finishing, based on physical and-chemical principles of mass transfer phenomena (sorption; diffusion), as well as other phenomena that occur at the interface between textile substrate and different dyeing and finishing systems (mostly aqueous systems).
    The outcomeBased on the knowledge obtained on the engineering aspects of textile dyeing and finishing, students are able to optimize and modify existing dyeing and finishing processes, as well as to develop new dyeing and finishing processes, with the aim to improve processing efficiency.
    Contents
    Contents of lecturesThe course gives principal knowledge on following phenomena: mass transfer applied to practical examples in dyeing and finishing (mass balance for various dyeing and finishing processes; diffusion; convection; fluid hydrodinamics applied on practical examples in dyeing and finishing); heat transfer with simple examples of stationary and non-stationary transfer; influence of material porosity on dyeing and finishing; influence of material surface morphology on dyeing and finishing; wetting; adhesion; hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity.
    Contents of exercisesThe course enables that students apply the knowledge obtained through theory lessons (in the form of theoretical calculations and using examples from the industrial practice). Student has to choose and describe phenomena in dyeing and finishing that can be applied to some practical examples; student has to evaluate the influence of these phenomena to the characteristics of the process and its efficiency; student has to make the relevant calculations based on the equations that can be applied to each example studied.
