    The goalGoal of the course it to inform and introduce students with the latest achievements and directions of development in this field, particularly with implementation of rapid prototyping (RP) and CAE techniques in virtual manufacturing of castings and tools production.
    The outcomeStudent will know on what development level is modern foundry technology and prospective directions of development, particularly in terms of implementation and importance of computer simulations, as well as purer manufacturing and environment protection with the most rational utilization of energy resources.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures• Technological course of material and energy with equipment and procedure classification ; • Relation with other technologies and general impact on environment depending on type of used technological procedure ; • Cost-effectiveness assessment for certain manufacturing in terms of required raw materials, energy, personnel, technological equipment and people and environmental safety ; • High-tech production for special castings made of superalloys, composite materials and reactive metals ; • Rapid prototyping ; • Implementation of CAE techniques in simulation of casting processes and tool design ; ;
    Contents of exercisesCalculation exercise, visiting investment casting foundry, work with computer graphics, demo presentation of implementing CAE techniques in foundry
