The goalThe course goal is to introduce students with fuels, characteristics of the combustion process, and calculations in process, kinetics and mechanism of combustion of fuels and flame propagation in gases. Students gain knowledge about the types of furnaces, principles of furnace construction and methods of energy consumption. During the course students are introduced to causes of air pollution by combustion products and the possibilities of its reduction.
The outcomeGaining knowledge about the specific properties of the combustion process that will enable the efficient conducting of the combustion process. Students are able to identify the problems of thermal treatment of the materials in industrial furnaces and are familiar with the problem of air pollution from industrial furnaces as well as with active and passive measures for their reduction.
