      The goalDevelopment of new products and processes for their production are the key activities of modern enterprises. Under the conditions of a competitive and dynamic market it is necessary to continually identify customer needs and create products that meet these needs. Bearing in mind that the design of products and processes is a key part of the production engineering objective is mastering the basic elements of design theory as follows: Basis for development of the concept of design solutions in the form of technical projects for simple problems; Understanding the basic elements of the project and the economic expression of technical and technological elements , Development of students to formulate terms of reference and create a conceptual design solutions in the form of technical projects for simple problems.
      The outcomeMastering the basic elements of the theory and skills of conceptual design of products and processes as part of the manufacturing engineering, students are able to formulate design solutions in the form of technical projects for simple problems.
      Contents of lecturesINTRODUCTION TO THE THEORY OF DESIGN: Concept, Levels and areas of design, Design structure; Design, engineering and management; Characteristics of the process industry; Research, technological development, technological know how and the design, Development process; Typical problems in the design. ; PROCES DESIGN AND PROJECTS: Technical-economic projects; Pre-feasibility study; Specialist studies; Feasibility Study; Project terms of reference elements; Process design project elements. ; TOOLS IN DESIGN: Sources of information; Process safety; Assessment of the investment cost, Elements of process economics; ; ROLE OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS IN DESIGN: General purpose applications; Aspen Plus and related programs. ; Examples of product and process design. ;
