      The goalPrinciples of sustainable growth applied to packing could be reflected as: The optimization of packaging to minimize its environmental impact achieving the minimum weight and volume to adequately protect the product; The responsible use of heavy metals and other hazardous substances; Reuse – defined as being refilled or used for the same purpose for which it was conceived. Requirements for packaging to be classified as recoverable in the form of material recycling; Requirements for packaging to be classified as recoverable in the form of energy recovery; Requirements for packaging that is suitable for organic recycling. ; Principles of smart packing ask for simplicity in design of packing, use of proven and advanced materials, and care about recycling in design phase, care for transport requirements during design and obtaining more security for consumers using smarter packing materials.
      The outcomeThe students will be enabled to design the smart packing system and to organize the production using advanced techniques of materials production and design. The sustainability of the concept will be integrated using the case studies, the written and oral reports using information obtained using the material given during lectures and using the proposed literature.
