The goalProvide students with an basic understanding of the equilibrium phase diagrams and structures of metallic materials
The outcomeStudents attain knowledge about the equilibrium phase diagrams and characterize the microstructure using the light microscopy.
    Contents
Contents of lecturesConsider the crystal structure and microstructure of metallic materials, crystalline imperfections, experimental methods for structure determination, relationships between equilibrium phase diagrams and microstructures, representation of phase equilibrium in binary and ternary metallic systems, interpretation of phase diagrams
Contents of exercisesCover the topics related to metallographic preparation of samples, examination of metallic materials microstructures using light microscopy, qualitative and quantitative evaluation of microstructure, experimental determination of equilibrium phase diagrams, analysis of equilibrium and nonequilibrium microstructures of ferrous and nonferrous alloys.
