The goalStudents are expected to gain basic theoretical knowledge about structure, properties and processing of composite materials. With basics of composite functionalities and applications, students will develop skills in selection and manipulation of constituent phases, as well as their interphases in order to fabricate materials with tailored properties, which are superior to monoliths for similar applications.
The outcomeStudents will be able to: a) recognize applications and functionalities of composites in comparison to monoliths, b) identify classes of composites in relation to matrix and reinforcement types as well as their interphases, c) gain basic knowledge in composites related to type, geometry and reinforcement dimensions, d) be trained on basics of properties characterizations.
