      The goalThe aim of the subject is to get the students acquainted with the chosen chapters of the chemistry of natural organic compounds. Each chapter contains nomenclature, detection, structure determination, biosynthesis, synthesis, biological activity and commercial application.
      The outcomeThe students will acquire the necessary expert knowledge for critical analysis and combining of new complex ideas, as well as the capability to develop new ideas. They will analyze, value and align new ideas and be able to make strategic decisions.
      Contents
      Contents of lecturesThe chosen chapters of the chemistry of natural organic compounds: carbohydrates, amino acids, peptides, proteins, nucleic acids, natural aromatic compounds, lipids, terpenes and terpenoids, vitamins, steroids, hormones, alkaloids, antibiotics, plant growth regulators, natural sea products.
