| The goal | The goal of this course is to provide a knowledge on the kinetics of phase transformations occurring during the solidification, plastic deformation, heat treatment and welding of metallic materials. Such knowledge forms a useful basis for achieving desired microstructures, which controls the properties of metallic materials for various applications. | |||
| The outcome | Students will be able to design the microstructure of technologically important metallic materials with required properties by occurring the certain phase transformation and by controlling its kinetics. | |||

| Contents of lectures | Consider the kinetics of phase transformations occurring in the liquid and solid state of metals and alloys, structural parameters effects on the phase transformations rates in real systems, diagrams of isothermal and continuous cooling transformations, specific reactions occurring during rapid and weld solidification. | |||
