The goalIn this course the systematization of processes, operations and procedures for the refining of metals, features of equipment for metal refining, as well as techno-economic aspects of the of the metal refining processes will be given. Also, the relevant factors for the methods of metals refining will be analyzed.
The outcomeDuring this course, different methods of refining metals such as: metals refining based on the difference in their affinity for certain elements, metals refining based on their differences in vapor pressure at various temperatures (at lower and normal external pressure), directed crystallization and zonal refining of metals, fractional crystallization of salts in the metal refining processes, formation of volatile compounds and their thermal decomposition, electrolysis of solutions, melt and amalgam electrolysis as methods for refining metals, will be discussed.
