The goalThe aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge about the properties and application possibilities of the most important oxide and non-oxide ceramic materials: alumina, zirkonia, spinel, mullite, cordierite, silčicon – carbide, silicon – nitride, bor – nitride etc.
The outcomeStudents gain knowledge and skills for new oxide and non-oxide ceramic materials design and for production and applications of existing oxide and non-oxide ceramic materials.
      Contents
Contents of lecturesPhysical and chemical properties, processing and applications of: alumina, zirconia, spinel, mullite, cordierite, silicon-carbide, silicon-nitride, boron-nitride etc.
Contents of exercisesProcessing (powder synthesis, pressing and sintering) and characterisation of selected oxide or non-oxide material.
