      The goalLearning about principles of digital photography, scanning, editing bit-mapped illustrations, hardproofing, softproofing and imposition. Learning about specific pre-press requirements for certain prinitng techniques. Training the sudents to work, lead and improve pre--press department in printing house, independent pre-press studio or graphic design agency.
      The outcomeThe students are informed on principles and basic operation in pre-press. The students can practicaly realize pre-press procedures according to selected printing techniqe. They are also able to improve pre-press department in which they would work.

      Contents of lecturesPrinciples of graphic reproduction. Photometric, densitometric and spectrophotometric values and measurements. Color theory. Color separation. Image digitalization. A/D convertors. Elementary photographic techniques. Elementary scanning techniques. Editing bit-maps. Elements of printing sheet (signature). Imposition basics. Output files for CtP or digital printing. Color separation and generating the screen. RIP and workflow. Color management basics. Standardization of graphic reproduction.
