The goalThe goal of this course is to provide a current knowledge on experimental methods for examination of engineering materials structure and possibilities of these methods needed for a complete determination of structure that is necessary for quality control and design of materials with improved or specific properties.
The outcomeStudents will be able to make a choice of proper experimental method or combination of various methods for complete and accurate characterization of engineering materials structure that is necessary for solving the problems in quality control, failure analysis, materials research and development.
      Contents
Contents of lecturesConsider the experimental methods for determination of materials structure, such as light microscopy, analytical electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, quantitative image analysis, X-ray diffraction and spectroscopy methods, range of their application, as well as their possibility to solve the problems in materials science and engineering.
