The goalThe goal of this course is to provide a knowledge on the phase transformations occurring during the solidification, plastic deformation, heat treatment and welding of metallic materials.
The outcomeStudents will be able to produce the desired microstructure and in turn desired properties of metallic materials for various applications by controlling the kinetics of transformations in a material.
      Contents
Contents of lecturesConsider the driving force for liquid-solid and solid-solid transformations in metals and alloys, mechanisms and kinetics of phase transformations, structural parameters effects on the phase transformations in real systems, diagrams of isothermal and continuous cooling transformations, specific reactions occurring during rapid and weld solidification.
