      The goalThe goal of the course is to introduce students to the basic as well as advanced knowledge of organic dyes and pigments important to chemical engeeners.
      The outcomeStudent will acquire the expertise to critically analyze and link new and complex ideas, the ability to develop new ideas and a good understanding of the learning process. Student will analyze, evaluate and connect new and complex ideas and be able to make strategic decisions.

      Contents of lecturesIntroduction. Classification of colorants. History. Basic concepts of color. Correlation between chemical structure and color. Synthesis, properties and application of dyes. Pigments. Classification, properties and synthesis of pigments. Ecology and toxicology of colorants.
