    The goalThe objectives of the course are: To introduce certain key aspects of inorganic chemistry; To understand how structure and bonding influence the physical properties and reactivity of inorganic moleculel; To provide (via the laboratory work) training and experience in practical aspects of inorganic chemistry including synthesis and characterization.
    The outcomeUpon successful completion of the course, students will have: a broad knowledge of the principles and concepts of contemporary inorganic chemistry; ability to describe the structure and properties of different classes of inorganic compounds; possibility to elucidate mechanisms of inorganic chemical reactions; knowledge about the catalytic role of inorganic compounds in the most important industrial processes. ; ; ;
    Contents
    Contents of lecturesCoordination compounds (crystal field theory; electronic spectra; magnetic properties of complex compounds); Organometallic compounds (synthesis methods, alkyls of the main groups elements, metallocenes); Complexes with π-acid ligands (carbonyls, chemical bonds in carbonyls, vibration spectra); Mechanisms of chemical reactions in solutions; Inorganic compounds in catalytical processes (concept and characteristics of the catalyst, homogeneous catalysis, heterogeneous catalysis); Basics of solid state (crystal lattice, unit cell, crystalline systems, ionic substances, basics of X-ray diffraction).
    Contents of exercisesSynthesis of three inorganic compounds and characterization of the obtained products by the most available instrumental techniques.
