    The goalThe aim of the course is to give good basic knowledge concerning the obtaining, structure, properties and application of medical textiles.
    The outcomeStudents will be able to use acquired knowledge about medical textiles as a theoretical and practical base in scientific research and professional work in the area of medical and other technical textile materials. Students reach basic knowledge about contemporary medical textiles and products, and develop ability to critical analysis of existing knowledge and predict behaviour of these materials in exploitation.
    Contents
    Contents of lecturesCourse provides fundamental knowledge about medical textiles, with emphasis on processes for their obtaining, their structure, properties and possible application. Course covers: contemporary medical textiles and processes for their obtaining, special fibers and yarns for medical application, medical textiles on the base of biofunctional polysaccharides, nonwoven medical textiles, nonimplantable and implantable medical materials, healthcare and hygiene products.
    Contents of exercisesLaboratory practice covers characterisation of textile materials used for compression therapy and quality co ntrol of haelthcare and hygiene products.
