    The goalIntroduction to various mechanical operations used in chemical industry and a detailed study and calculation methods of basic mechanical operations.The goal of the course is to enable students to understand momentum transport phenomena and fundamental engineering principles that are used in calculations of mechanical unit operations.
    The outcomeThe ability to make the calculations of the basic mechanical operations and equipment.
    Contents
    Contents of lecturesFlow of real fluids. Local and average speed measurements. Steady state real fluid flow energy balance. Frictional and local head losses. Fluid flow networks analysis. Dimensional analysis and similarity theory. The relative motion of fluid and particles. Equivalent diameter and sphericity. Settling of particles in gravitational field. Basic hydro mechanical operations - settling, classification and separation. Fluid flow through porous media. Filtration. Fluidized systems - the theoretical principles and application. Types of fluidization.
