The goalLearning fundamentals of modern technologies in surface modification of both conductive and non-conductive surfaces. Acquiring theoretical background on deposition regimes in electroplating of metallic coatings and their influence on the properties of deposited coatings.
The outcomeStudent acquired the basic knowledge of different modern methods of surface modification types, as well as types of electroplating regimes. Student learnt to propose the type of surface modification or plating regime and its parameters depending on the desired coating property.
      Contents
Contents of lectures• Electrochemical deposition of metallic coatings by different regimes (galvanostatic and potentiostatic deposition, deposition by periodically changing currents). • Non-electrochemical methods in metallic coatings deposition • Modern methods of metallic coatings deposition (thin coatings deposition and oxidation, electroless deposition, vacuum deposition, laser deposition, photochemical deposition, plasma electrolytic oxidation,...) • Coating deposition on non-conductive substrates • Determination of corrosion stability of metallic coatings.
Contents of exercises• Deposition by periodically changing currents • Determination of corrosion stability of metallic coating • Seminar
