The goal | Students are introduced to the relations between the structure and properties of various textile materials (yarns, knitted fabrics, woven fabrics, non-woven fabrics). They also acquire knowledge of possibilities in combining the structure and properties of textile materials to achieve the desired design in dependence of the purpose of textile.
The outcome | Students are trained to be capable of independent engineering work in industrial practice as well as other textile activities.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Through the contents of the course students get professional knowledge about the principles of design of linear textile structures (yarns), conventional 2D textile materials (woven fabrics, knitting fabrics, non-woven fabrics) as well as 3D textiles of new generation. In the scope of this course physical properties of knitted and woven fabrics in relation to their design are studied. Design of clothing, decorative, and technical fabrics is also studied. In addition, the basic concept of design of non-woven fabrics is presented.
Contents of exercises | Identification of the elements necessary for the design of textile materials (yarns, woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, non-woven fabrics). Drawing of loop diagrams and notations of basic knitted structures. Drawing of weave diagrams as well as the appearance of the woven fabric obtained by combining coloured yarns and weaves. Technical calculation of woven fabrics.
