      The goalThe goals of the course are to introduce students to the basic principles of printing inks and adhesives important for future studying and practical work.
      The outcomeStudent will gain knowledge of basic principles of printing inks and adhesives, which will enable them to analyze and connect new concepts easier in future studying and practical work. In addition, students will learn how to test and analyse printing inks and their components, and adhesives.
      Contents
      Contents of lecturesDefinition and components of printing inks (pigments, dyes, vehicle, resins, solvents, aditives) as well as division, composition and properties of printing inks according to printing process. Manufacturing of printing inks. Testing, control and analysis of printing inks and dry prints Theory of adhesion, types of adhesives, analysis of adhesives.
      Contents of exercisesDry print color measurement using spectrophotometer. Uv-vis spectrophotometric analysis of dyes; Testing the ink color by apsorptive spectrophotometer; Pigment testing; Manufacture of varnishes; Manufacture of printing ink; Testing of printing inks (color, gloss, transparency, viscosity, tack, strike through); Analysis of printing inks; Dry print testing; Starch adhesive preparation and analysis. Literary work.
