The goalThe overall goal of the course is to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge regarding modern achievements in the field of mass spectrometry, as well as its applications in the analysis of environmental samples. Through practical work in the laboratory, students should acquire basic skills for working on a mass spectrometer. The purpose of the seminar paper is to enable students, in a specific example related to their field of research, to comprehend all aspects of the development of a modern analytical method.
The outcomeStudents acquire knowledge related to new developments in the field of mass spectrometry, as well as its applications in elemental (induced coupled plasma-mass spectrometry) and organic (liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry) analysis of environmental samples. They also acquire basic skills to work on the instrument, develop creativity and the ability to use the acquired knowledge to solve real analytical problems and develop communication skills during the written and oral presentation of seminar work.
