The goalThe course will give systematization of processes, operations and procedures for obtaining high-purity metals, features of machines and devices for metals refining, as well techno-economic aspects of the processes of metals refining. Relevant factors of methods for obtaining high-purity metals will be analyzed.
The outcomeThrough this course different methods for metals refining, such as metals refining based on the difference in their affinity for certain elements, metals refining based on differences of vapor pressure at various temperatures (at lower and normal external pressure), directed crystallization and zonal metals refining, fractional crystallization of salts in the metals refining processes, formation of volatile compounds and their thermal decomposition, electrolysis of solutions, melts and amalgam electrolysis as methods for metals refining will be discussed.
