    The goalThe objective of this course is to analyse the coatings production from an idea to the industrial manufacturing with all parameters that are necessary for successful manufacturing and monitoring of processes, as well as final products. The students are acquired with the role of polymers and resins, pigments, solvents and additives in a coating formulation. Selection of raw materials and how they effect coatings manfucaturing and properties, will be disscussed, as well as surface preparation techniques and coatings application techniques.
    The outcomeAfter the students fulfilled all the requirements and passed the exam, they are capable to select a proper raw materials to get desired coating properties, capable to formulate and choose proper manufacturing process, to monitor it and final products.

    Contents of lectures1. Coatings-purpose and function; properties and composition; classification; formulations. 2. Liquid and powder coatings. 3. Classification of coatings based on the polymer resins. 4. Coatings additives. 5. Coatings manufacturing and testing. 6. Surface preparation techniques, application and drying methods.
    Contents of exercisesCoatings formulations including examples of trade sales, industrial, and specialty coatings. Selection of raw materials; coatings formulation, prediction of manufacturing process and monitoring, testing of final products.
