The goalThe course has been designed to give an overall introduction to potential implementation of nanotechnologies in textile industry for the fabrication of textile materials with specific properties.
The outcomeStudents will gain basic knowledge about synthesis, characterization and potential applications of nanofibers and nanoparticles. In addition, they will be able to design textile materials for desired use by adequate selection of nanoparticles.
      Contents
Contents of lecturesStudents will become acquainted with methods for synthesis and characterization of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles that are suitable for the application to textile materials as well as with available methods for the modification of textile materials with nanoparticles. Simultaneously, they will learn about the mechanism of action of nanoparticles deposited on textile materials and specific properties which could be imparted due to their presence (antimicrobial, UV protective, self/cleaning, fire retardancy, etc). They will also gain knowledge about methods for synthesis and characterization of nanofibers and their potential applications.
