The goal | 1. Introduction to the conventional and modern pharmaceutical forms of preparation. 2. Introduction to the basic principles of drug distribution and dissolution on the macro levels in the body. 3. Introduction to the work in the sterile environment and basic principles for pharmaceutical products production and packaging in the view of pharmaceutical regulatory, validation, quality control and good manufacturing practice. 4. Introduction to the basic specificities of the pharmaceutical processes. 5. Inhabitation of students with the team work for further development and specialization of the interdisciplinary approach to the practical problem solving.
The outcome | 1. Students are enabled for work in sterile conditions. 2. Students are initiate with the basic specificities of the pharmaceutical processes. 3. Students are enabled for production of the microbeads (alginate matrix particles produced by different atomization techniques), liposome type vesiqules and phospholipide emulsions and water for injection (WFI). 4. Students attain basic knowledge for modern separation proceses in pharmaceutical engineering. 5. Students attain basic knowledge for the work in the industry trough the visits to the pharmaceutical companies.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Course include studing of conventional and modern forms of pharmaceutical products with special attention for the principles and design of transfer of the active component to the targeted place in organism.
Contents of exercises | Practical part include laboratory practice for basic incapsulation techniques, laboratory work in sterile conditions (work in laminar, work with autoclave), methods for preparation and characterization of pharmaceutical products (microscopy). Calculation and selection of some separation processes, example of the production of water for injection (WFI).
