Contents of lectures | MOLECULAR DIFFUSION: 1. Fick’s law; Mass transfer general balance equation; Equimolar counterdiffusion; Molecular diffusion of A through stagnant B; CONVECTIVE MASS TRANSFER: 1. Convective mass-transfer coefficient; Dimensionless numbers and dimensional analysis; INTERPHASE MASS TRANSFER: Overall mass transfer coefficients and driving forces, Types of contactors; ABSORPTION: Basic principles, Operating line, Theoretical number of trays, Transfer units; DISTILLATION: Simple distillation methods, Simple steam distillation, Equilibrium distillation, Simple differential distillation; RECTIFICATION: Distillation columns with trays, Operating lines, McCabe-Thiele method of calculation for number of theoretical stages; LIQUID-LIQUID EXTRACTION: Triangular coordinates and equilibrium data, Single-stage equilibrium extraction; DRYING: Simultaneous heat and mass transfer, Kinetics of drying. ; ; | |||
