| The goal | Learning basic concepts of cell physiology, human physiology ; and epidemiological factors. | |||
| The outcome | Basic knowledge on the biology and physiology of plant and animal cells as the basis of human biology and physiology. Linking these findings with influential factors of technology ; (biotechnology, pharmaceutical technology) and environmental factors on the functioning of biological systems with positive and negative aspects. | |||

| Contents of lectures | General physiology of cell - cell and biomolecules. The base structure of plant and animal cells. Transport mechanisms of small and large molecules through the cytoplasmic membrane - passive transport, facilitated transport, active transport, memebranski electric potential and ion channels, energy production and metabolism, endocytosis, phagocytosis, exocytosis. Cell cycle, cell division. ; Basics of human physiology - Organising cells into tissues and organs. Homeostasis as a constant anatomical or physiological parameters within the body. Thermal balance and thermoregulation. Acid-base homeostasis ; Physiology of the Digestive System - nutrition and digestion. ; Endocrine System - General characteristics of hormones, the role of hormones, types of glands, glands attached to the digestive system. ; Physiology of blood - plasma, hematopoiesis, blood cells, blood coagulation, hemostasis. ; Immunity - components of the immune system, natural and acquired immunity, active and passive immunity, non-specific and specific immune mechanisms. ; Detoxification - physiology of the respiratory and urinary systems ; Physiology of the skin - skin structure, physiological functions of the skin, the skin as a barrier. ; Epidemiology - Basic concepts of epidemiology, epidemiological factors. | |||
| Contents of exercises | Getting to know the structure and properties of cells. Practical classes with the use of a microscope. The observation of different types of cells of different origins. Observation and study of appropriate histological preparations. | |||
