The goal | The aim of master's thesis is to provide students with experience and competences in practical solving of a given scientific or professional problem, through precise collection of experimental and/or literature data, calculations, analysis of experimental results and making the main conclusions, as well as clear scientific and technical communication skills. Improvement of the communication skills for presenting complex problems and scientific and research concepts through writing and oral defense of the master's (master's) thesis. | |||
The outcome | The aim is to enable students to acquire expert, communication and social competences necessary for working in engineering and research teams. Students have acquired practical and analytical knowledge for data collection and analysis, skills for clear formulation and presentation of the task, methods of solving different problems and analysis the results of work, as well as writing and oral communication skills. | |||

Contents of exercises | After completing the literature review, conducting research and / or calculations, the student analyzes and interprets the obtained results, and prepares a master's thesis, which contains an introduction, theoretical background, materials and / or experimental methods, results, discussion and conclusion. After a well-graded master thesis, the student prepares an oral presentation and defense of the work, showing and critically discussing the results of scientific research work. The defense of the master's thesis is public, and the work and defense are evaluated by a committee consisting of a mentor and at least two other members. | |||

Methods of teaching | Mentor prepares the assignment for student, who does a research work within the given topic. Depending on the topic of master's work, a student performs experiments in the laboratory and/or appropriate calculation/modeling/simulation. After completing the experimental work and / or calculation, the student is writing a master's (diploma) thesis and submits to the committee for review and evaluation. Master work defended through oral presentation and critical analysis of the obtained results, including the answers to the questions asked by committee. | |||
