The goal | The aim of the course is to provide students with theoretical knowledge and experimental ability to use the instrumental method that is relevant to the area of particular interest, and to acquire a basic knowledge of the other methods within the syllabus.
The outcome | The powerpoint presentation of the paper should develop communication skills. At the same time, the seminar papers, presented by other students on a number of other instrumental methods and their application, represent the joint preparation of learning material and develope the team work ability.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | The course includes a number of instrumental methods (spectroscopy, fluorescence and phosphorescence, nuclear magnetic resonance, thermal methods, gas and liquid chromatography, combined methods, etc.). Syllabus and the topics depend on the interest of the students and changes evry year. Each student, in consultation with the supervisor, selects 5 instrumental methods, collects references and visits the laboratory in which the method is applied. Each student presents 1 selected method through the powerpoint presentation and writes a short text (10-15 pages) for the second method in which he explains the fundamentals of the method illustrated by the specific examples. Students take the final test that covers the remaining 3 selected instrumental methods.
