The goal | Understanding different welding and soldering technologies and reasons for application. | |||
The outcome | Student will be trained to properly select welding technology which will, together with selected welding parameters, provide required microstructure and appropriate mechanical properties of weld joint | |||

Contents of lectures | Understanding electrical characteristics of electrical current sources, basic heat transfer in welding, types of heat sources, heat cycles. Arc welding (manual MME, submerged arc welding SMAW, metal inert gas MIG, metal ative gas MAG, electroslag, elect.resistant); Welding in solid state (friction welding, frictioon stirr welding). New technologies (explosive welding, laser welding, electron beam welding). Soldering. Filler materials for welding (electrodes, gases, powders etc.). Influence of welding parameters on size and shape of weld pool and heat affected zone. | |||
