The goalThe aim of this course is to introduce students to the types, properties and application of the most important types of nonwoven fabrics, while also providing foundational knowledge of modern nonwoven fabric production techniques.
The outcomeStudents are trained to determine the basic parameters of the production of various kinds of nonwoven fabrics, and to work in the domain of the industrial production of nonwovens.
      Contents
Contents of lecturesThe course provides knowledge in the field of the production of nonwoven fabrics. The course includes the following teaching units: types, significance and application of nonwoven fabrics, raw materials and binders used in their production, technological processes for web formation (dry-lay process (including carding and aerodynamic methods), wet-lay process, extrusion process, and other web formation techniques), technological processes of web bonding (mechanical, chemical, and thermal), finishing of nonwovens, unconventional methods for creating textile materials (such as pile textile floor coverings and laminated textiles), and testing and quality assessment of nonwoven fabrics.
Contents of exercisesPractical part include: determination of structural, tensile and sorption properties of nonwoven fabrics.
