    The goalTo learn more about the place and role of printing industry; to learn more about classification of graphic products: to learn more about classification of printing processes, pre-press methods and graphical finishing; to acquire fundamental general knowledge on technological processes for production of graphical and packaging products; to learn more about terminology in graphical technology.
    The outcomeThe students are informed on the place and role of printing industry, classification of printing processes, terminology and basic technological schemes-layouts of various manufacturing procedures, and thus prepared to attend more specialized courses.

    Contents of lecturesIntroduction: The field of application of graphical industry. Classification of graphical products. Printing as a technological process. Basic technological scheme-layout-diagram of graphical production. Basic raw materials in graphical production. Printing substrates. Graphical paints-colors-ink. Finishing materials. Preparation for printing. Computerized preparation for printing (input and processing of text and figures). Technical and technological preparation of graphical production. Preparation-production of copying models. Preparation-production of printing forms-models. Printing procedure. Printing procedures the basis of graphical engineering. Basic technological scheme-diagram of printing procedure. Classification of printing procedures. Printing machine as a technological system. Function. Basic systems of printing machines. Classification of printing machines. Letterpress printing (Properties, field of application, printing ink, forms and machines).     Contents of exercisesNumber of classes is predicted for practical training in appropriate printing firms, in order to make it possible for the students to see and study in practice some of the procedures they treat theoretically.
